One of the biggest events in our dance calendar and one of the biggest dance festivals in the world was on during the Easter period at the magnificent Empress Ballroom, Blackpool Wintergardens.. The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival has been running since 1947 with young dancers from all over the World visiting Blackpool to compete.
The festival took place over 5 days and we took many of our dancers to the event to compete for British Championship titles and many other titles which were held over the week.
We were really proud of all of our dancers who attended this competition. Many getting recalls, reaching semi-finals and finals.
Mondays events included the Junior and Juvenile All Girl and Boy Girl events. Finalists from Sanderson’s included Thomas Boyd and Millie Craig who came 2nd in the Juvenile Boy/ Girl, Lewis Frobisher and Scarlett Houston who came 2nd in the Junior Boy/Girl, Eve McNulty and Leanne Halton who came 2nd in the Juvenile All Girl and Jodie Leigh Weller and Ayva Grayce Gregson who won the Juvenile All Girl!
Congratulations to Hope Faraday and Maria Mallinson who were awarded 4th place in the 12/13 event on the Friday.
The Juvenile British Championship on the Thursday set one of Sanderson’s’ records with 3 of our couples being placed in the final! Congratulations Eve & Leanne, Jodie- Leigh & Ayva Grayce and Olivia and Sophie!
Great result in the Junior British Championship on the Friday with Scarlett and Lewis receiving a 2nd place. The last day was a little emotional as it was the last time for partnerships Eve and Leanne and Lewis and Scarlett to dance their last event. Both couples went out on a high coming 2nd in their British Championships and also the Modern Sequence events.
