Each year, our team of parent helpers play a huge role in the smooth running of our showcase production. Once again, we would like to reach out to ask for parents to help with various tasks before, during and after the show production.
Below is an outline of the various roles and responsibilities that we are looking to assign people to. Please read carefully before committing to any of these.
COSTUME HELPERS
For each team in the production, we are looking for a parent that will help with looking after the costumes that the dancers will be wearing. For this role, you are not required to help look after children, it is simply to get costumes to where they need to be at the right time.
Responsibilities as follows:
* Be on hand to assist with trying on sizing samples during class time if needed.
* Be able to attend the costume fittings day on 14th January 2024 to help with sizing up, labelling etc. Then take costumes home afterwards to look after.
* To bring the costumes to the dress rehearsal day on 4th February 2024 and pass them onto the helpers looking after each group. There is no need to stay on this day unless you are also helping to look after a group of children. Then to collect the costumes and take home afterwards.
* Where applicable, to iron & hang costumes ready for show weekend.
* To bring the costumes to the Mechanics theatre between Monday 5th February and Thursday 8th February 2024 during our stage rehearsal hours and to distribute them into the dressing rooms where they will be needed.
* To collect the costumes after the Sunday show & take home. Freshen up wash where required.
* Return costumes to Gemma week commencing Monday 12th February 2024
* DBS not required.

BACKSTAGE HELPERS
Whilst backstage, our dancers are split into groups of no more than 12 children. For each show day, each group needs at least one parent helper that will be able to supervise them and assist them with their costume changes. Parent helpers MUST have a DBS check that has been issued within the last 3 years. (A basic DBS can be applied for via gov.uk website for approx £18 if required)
Responsibilities as follows:
* To be able to attend the full dress rehearsal on Sunday 4th February 2024 so that you can meet your assigned group and to familiarise yourself with their costume combinations.
* To be able to attend your chosen helping days over show weekend to look after your group.
* No need to attend the costume fittings day or the stage rehearsal days.

LICENSED CHAPERONE ROLE
We are also required by law to have a team of licensed chaperones present at the theatre that overlook the running of our backstage groups and to ensure that all health & safety and safeguarding guidelines are being adhered to. Obtaining a chaperone licence involves a few steps i.e. DBS check, interview/training session with someone from local council in Preston, online safeguarding training plus a few additional bits of paperwork. A licence lasts for 3 years and costs £30 which would be covered by Sandersons. Our teaching staff normally undertake this role but if any parents would also like to be considered for this in addition to their backstage helper role, please contact Gemma via WHATS APP.
SIGN IN & SECURITY AT THEATRE
During our week of stage rehearsals and over show weekend at Burnley Mechanics, we need to have a few people around at certain times to help with signing children in and out of the theatre and also helping with the security of the routes from the entrance to the dressing rooms.
This could be any parents. No DBS requirements.
